When my wife Amanda and I were first dating, we’d occasionally record our conversations as a kinda faux podcast. The recordings were meant to be something we’d come back to in the future to laugh or cringe at. During one of the early recordings, usually meandering conversations about nothing in particular, my wife joked that we sounded like two drunk half-wits. “That would make the two of us one full wit,” I quipped. Thusly, the name of our joint empire was born.
Fast forward three years, we’re now married, in a new city, and looking for ways to get out of the house and connect with writers in our community of Northeastern Ohio. What better way to do that than to start a reading series.
Modeled after some of our favorite New York City readings, One Full Wit, aims to spotlight writers in the Cleveland area (and beyond) through calls for submissions.
The reading will be held at Visible Voice Books in Tremont. If you’re interested in reading with us, or know someone who might be, submissions for the August 4th reading are open until June 12th.
Hit me up with questions or email your work to submissions [at] onefullwit [dot] com. Find us on Instagram @onefullwit.
